Karelian research centre of the RAS

Karelian research centre of the RAS (KarRC RAS) – one of the largest regional units of the Russian Academy of science of the North-West Russia. Founded in 1946 the centre now comprises seven research institutions: Institute of Biology, Institute of Water Problems of the North, Institute of Geology, Institute of Forestry, Institute of Applied Mathematical Research, Institute of Economics, Institute of Language, Literature and History. The number of permanent staff is about 900 people, more than 40% of them - scientists, including 56 doctors and 212 candidates. Every year in graduate school KRC RAS trained about 70 people on 30 specialties.
